To celebrate the first Overwatch World Cup, that took place at BlizzCon 2016, Blizzard asked me to create a series of posters featuring each of the 16 finalist countries in the tournament: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Finland, France, Germany, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei), Thailand and USA.
For each poster, a custom lettering for the country name was created, considering the local language, as well the country colors.
Also, the posters have his own background design, with illustrations based in the opening screens and maps from the Overwatch game, related to the country portraited in the poster. For the countries that didn't have any map or opening screen related to, a stylized illustration done over a real location of the country (some touristic place) was created.
Individual illustrations of each of the national teams captains were created to finish the posters composition. In a semi realistic style that keeps the resemblance of the player's face while giving a comic book art feel to the illustration
Bonus: Competition arena and trophy posters
Unfortunately these posters weren't released in the BlizzCon.
